Todd Gurley quad injury is week-to-week, not ruled out yet for Week 7

Rams running back Todd Gurley sat out Week 6 with a quad injury, and his status is uncertain for Week 7. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The Los Angeles Rams were without running back Todd Gurley in Week 6, and his quadricep injury might cost him Week 7 as well. The injury is not viewed as “long, long term,” but is viewed as week-to-week, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. The thigh injury is on the same leg as his knee issue from last season, and Rapoport reported that “stability is part of the concern that caused the Rams to hold him out Sunday.”

Malcolm Brown started in Gurley’s place, with Darrell Henderson serving as backup. Brown had 11 rushes for 40 yards, while Henderson had six for 39 and one reception for nine yards. The Rams run game impressed on the opening drive, marching 56 yards entirely on the ground to a touchdown. However, things quickly went south from there for the entire offense. They turned the ball over on downs four times, with three of them coming on fourth and short situations — including a goal to go situation that featured two straight Brown runs at the 49ers one yard line.

The Falcons have actually been fairly decent against the run, giving up the eighth fewest fantasy points to running backs. They’ve been miserable against the pass, so we could see Sean McVay focus on the passing game. The Rams starting running back will be a solid option in this game, but it might be a few days before Gurley is formally ruled out.
