Todd Gurley injury status update, 10:32 a.m.

The Rams formally ruled out running back Todd Gurley Saturday afternoon. He was doubtful with a quadricep injury, so this is not a shocking development. But it does clarify things well in advance of the team’s 4:05 p.m. kickoff against the San Francisco 49ers. Malcolm Brown will start in Gurley’s place and Darrell Henderson will back him up. Brown is a decent fantasy start given the volume of touches he’ll get, but he faces a tough 49ers defense so expectations should still be relatively low.

The Los Angeles Rams are expected to be without running back Todd Gurley when they host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6. Gurley suffered a quad injury and is listed as doubtful for the game.

Malcolm Brown is expected to start in his place, and Darrell Henderson will serve as the backup. Brown rushed 11 times in Week 1 and had two rushing touchdowns. He looked like he might supplant Gurley for carries moving forward, but his carries have decreased ever since as Gurley has solidified his role. Brown will likely get the bulk of the work surpass his 16 total touches over the past four weeks.

Henderson was viewed as the potential backup to Gurley coming into the season, but he lost his role in a hurry and has one carry on the season.

Fantasy football analysis, Rams RBs Malcolm Brown, Darrell Henderson

The 49ers have a stout run defense that ranks fifth in efficiency and have given up the fewest fantasy points to running backs. This is not a good matchup. That being said, a volume play holds value now that bye weeks are upon us. Expectations should be low, but Brown holds some value as a flex option. Henderson has no value at this point as the clear No. 2 in this duo.

Start/Sit Recommendation
