Editor’s update: Kenny Stills is not expected to play today, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.
You can add Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills to the list of game-time decisions this week. Head coach Bill O’Brien confirmed on Friday that they won’t know whether their top slot option will suit up this week against the Kansas City Chiefs until 90 minutes before their 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Stills missed last week’s game, and it’s too bad for him. The Texans exploded for 53 points against the hapless Falcons. Quarterback DeSean Watson threw five touchdown passes, but Still didn’t get the chance to pad his underwhelming season stats because of his hamstring injury.
If you’re looking for positive signs that Still will play this week, he was a limited participant in practice. So even if he doesn’t play, at least things are trending up for Houston’s high-profile offseason acquisition, and they really need him to pay dividends as they look to stay in the mix near the top of the AFC standings.
Fantasy football analysis, Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills
Without Stills, Keke Coutee serves as Houston’s main slot receiver. It’s worth noting that amid all the gaudy numbers against the Falcons last week, Coutee had the third-most receiving yards of his teammates with 72. Stills was getting a lion’s share of the reps in the slot when he was active, rather than splitting them with Coutee. You might be better served looking elsewhere this week.
