How to handle Rashaad Penny, Chris Carson injuries in Week 6 fantasy football

Seattle’s top two running backs are both dealing with injuries. Here’s what you need to know.

Both Rashaad Penny and Chris Carson turned up on the injury report for the Seattle Seahawks this week. The man on the top of the depth chart, Carson, was a full participant at practice on Friday, just a day after being limited. Penny was still on the Friday injury report, listed as questionable, with a hamstring injury. However, Penny was a full participant at Friday’s practice.

Carson has cemented his status at the Seahawks top running back this season. He’s got 54 touches over the last two weeks of the season, along with 222 rushing yards, 46 receiving yards, and a touchdown. He was on the field so much last week that Penny, Seattle’s change-of-pace guy, had just eight touches.

As far as fantasy goes, Carson’s play this season has made his compatriots in the backfield mostly irrelevant. He’s literally running away with the starting job in a backfield that’s usually been a committee situation. The Seahawks play the Browns this week, which makes Carson a particularly attractive starter. Cleveland gave up 275 yards on the ground last week against the 49ers, and nearly 200 the week before that. Carson’s DK salary is $6,000 this week, which really makes him a bargain.
