The Los Angeles Chargers lost running back Justin Jackson to an ankle injury in practice at the end of last month. Jackson has missed two games since then, and he is going to miss a third this week.
Jackson is officially listed as doubtful on the injury report, so he technically hasn’t been ruled out yet. However, he did not practice at all this week, and the Chargers have a pretty good one-two punch with the recently returned Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler. They just don’t need him this week ... and maybe not much beyond that.
He had a good thing going before getting hurt, rolling up 142 rushing yards on just 18 carries through the first three weeks of the season.
Fantasy football analysis, Los Angeles Chargers RB Justin Jackson
Jackson’s workload is going to drop precipitously when he does return from his ankle injury. Ekeler’s been sensational as the team’s top halfback this season. He’s got a total of 583 yards from scrimmage, and is the team’s second-leading receiver. Now that Gordon’s back, he’ll command more work.
