The Pittsburgh Steelers will send out their third starting quarterback of the 2019 season when Week 6 Sunday arrives. The team ruled out Mason Rudolph due to the concussion he suffered last week against the Baltimore Ravens. Rudolph returned to practice, but has not yet been cleared through the concussion protocol. Rookie quarterback Devlin Hodges will get the start, and the team promoted Paxton Lynch from the practice squad.
Fantasy football analysis, Steelers QB Devlin Hodges
This is a tough one to figure out. Hodges looked solid in limited snaps after replacing Rudolph. He completed seven of nine passes for 68 yards, and kept the Steelers in the game into overtime. They came up short after JuJu Smith-Schuster fumbled the ball to set up the Ravens game-winning field goal, but it was not Hodges’ fault.
You’ll want to continue starting JuJu, James Conner, and Vance McDonald, but it’s hard to say what to do beyond that. James Washington is out and Diontae Johnson could be an intriguing replacement. He caught five passes for 27 yards in Week 5, and led the team with eight targets. He’s no more than a PPR flex option in deeper leagues, but he’ll be worth watching. But as for what to expect from the Steelers’ big names? I’m optimistic against a shaky Chargers team, but it’s guess-work with an undrafted rookie at the helm in his first career start.
