Tyreek Hill injury status update, 2:20 p.m.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced on Friday that wide receiver Tyreek Hill is a game-time decision for Week 6 vs. the Houston Texans, according to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero. Hill has been getting in limited workouts at practice, and the team is optimistic he can play, but it will depend on the outcome of his bone scan. If he is good to go, he will be a solid fantasy football start in what should be a shootout against Houston.
The Kansas City Chiefs may be getting back a significant playmaker in Week 6. The team is optimistic wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be be able to play in Week 6, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. Hill will undergo a bone scan on Friday, and if it is healing properly and safe for Hill to play, he’ll be out there.
“Similar to the Sam Darnold situation, feelings are one thing, but tests and scans are another thing,” Rapoport said. “They are going to scan the bone, make sure that it has healed properly, make sure it’s safe for him to be out there.”
Hill fractured his clavicle in Week 1 and first returned to practice in limited fashion in Week 5. This week, he was limited on Wednesday and a full participant on Thursday. The team will release their final injury report Friday afternoon.
This news comes as Sammy Watkins remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Watkins injured it early in Week 5 Sunday Night Football and has been a DNP at practice the past two days.
Fantasy football analysis, Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill
This would be a big boost as the Chiefs look to rebound from their first loss of the season. They face a tough Houston Texans team that put up 53 points on Atlanta last week. The Chiefs have had several wide receivers break out in Hill’s absence, but there’s no denying what Hill brings to the table.
Once the Chiefs receivers are all healthy, there will be some difficult decisions to make, but Watkins’ injury leaves the door open for the rest of the group. Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, and Byron Pringle have all had a breakout performance this season. Add in Travis Kelce and the Chiefs three running backs, and it’s an embarrassment of riches. Hill would return to starter status in your fantasy football lineup. Hardman, Robinson, and Pringle are a little tougher to judge. One or more likely will have a solid game, but which one that is will be tough to sort out.
