The Arizona Cardinals host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6, and they have some good and bad news surrounding their offense, according to beat writer Darren Urban. The good news is that wide receiver Christian Kirk continues to practice after missing Week 5 with an ankle injury. The bad news is that running back David Johnson sat out a second straight day of practice with a back injury suffered in Week 5.

Fantasy football analysis, Cardinals RB David Johnson

If Johnson is active, he’s a must start even at less than 100 percent. But if he does not play on Sunday, Chase Edmonds becomes the option at running back and is a solid start in his own right. The Falcons have been decent against the run and awful against the pass, but Edmonds is a talented option. He’s no DJ, but we saw what he can do with his work complementing Johnson last week. He rushed eight times for 68 yards and a touchdown and added three receptions for 18 yards. He’d handle the DJ workload and be a guy who is worth starting over a fair number of other running backs around the league.

Fantasy football analysis, Cardinals WR Christian Kirk

Kirk has been a bit inconsistent, but he’s been a regular target for Kyler Murray. He has had at least five targets in every game, and 12 in Weeks 1 and 3. Larry Fitzgerald was a key target in the first two weeks, but has seen his targets come down a bit the past three weeks.

Both are excellent starts against an atrocious Falcons pass defense. If Kirk does not play, KeeSean Johnson would get more work. I don’t know that I’d play him outside of particularly deep leagues, but he’s worth at least keeping an eye on.
