It’s Patriots or nothing for betting on Week 6 TNF

The Patriots are huge favorites against a beleaguered Giants squad. Here’s why you should stick with the heavy favorites if you’re betting against the spread.

The New England Patriots host the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 6, and this could be an ugly one. The Patriots were already heavy favorites coming into the week, but things have taken a turn for the worse with the Giants injury report. The team announced on Wednesday that running backs Saquon Barkley and Wayne Gallman, tight end Evan Engram, and wide receiver Sterling Shepard are all out for the game.

The Patriots opened as 16-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook. The line climbed up to 17.5 points and has settled in at 17 points Thursday morning. The point total is sitting at 41 points.

I would not judge you for staying away from this game, but if you’re going to bet on it, this seems like Patriots or nothing. Giants quarterback Daniel has Golden Tate, and not a whole lot else. Maybe running back Jon Hilliman or wide receiver Darius Slayton surprises, but where exactly are the Giants going to find points?

With all that in mind, my favorite bet for the game is under on the Giants team total of 11.5. A late garbage time touchdown could happen, but even with that, I don’t see this team getting past ten points. I’m less inclined to bet under on the 41 total points because something like 34-10 or 38-10 would not be surprising.
