Patriots-Giants final score update

The Patriots looked like they might not cover for much of this game, but they came through late. The Patriots led 21-14 at the half and were held scoreless in the third quarter. With 8:32 to go in the fourth quarter, Kyle Van Noy ran back a fumble to give the Patriots a 28-14 lead. The Patriots got the ball back and did not take their foot off the gas. Tom Brady drove them down the field, including a big pass to Julian Edelman to set up a goal to go situation, and Brady punched in a second sneak to put New England up 35-14.

Patriots-Giants first half update

Most of the free world bet the Patriots as 16.5-point favorites, and most of them are reconsidering their life decisions. The Patriots jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but the Giants stormed back with a pair of big plays to tie things up in the second quarter. Daniel Jones found Golden Tate with a dime that the receiver turned into a 64-yard touchdown. Less than two minutes later, Markus Golden recovered a fumble and ran it back 42 yards for the tying score. Tom Brady drove the Patriots down the field at the end of the second quarter and snuck it in for a go-ahead touchdown. The Patriots lead 21-14 heading into halftime.

What better way to start Week 6 than with an absolute blowout on Thursday night? While that’s an accurate sentiment for Patriots’ fans, it’s meant as a sarcastic comment for everyone else. The New York Giants are shipping up to New England, carrying damaged cargo. Once again, the Patriots (-16.5) are extremely heavy favorites. This game has the largest spread of Week 6, which comes as no surprise. The franchise series is tied at six wins apiece and all but two games have been decided by eight or less points. I think it’s safe to say that the Patriots will break the tie with a double-digit victory, though.

A huge reason why this matchup is so one-sided is due to the health status of the New York Giants. While he’s making a superhuman recovery from his high ankle sprain, Saquon Barkley (DraftKings Showdown salary $9,200) will likely sit out this week. His backup, Wayne Gallman ($6,400,) suffered a concussion last week and is also likely out. While we’re on the topic, Sterling Shepard fell victim to his second concussion of the season and is certainly sitting this one out. And finally, Daniel Jones’ ($8,000) best remaining option, Evan Engram ($7,200,) is working through a knee injury and is questionable to play. Needless to say, the Giants are thin this week.

The New England Patriots have always used the questionable tag liberally, and this week is no different. While we’ll be keeping an eye on Julian Edelman ($10,400,) Josh Gordon ($9,000,) Phillip Dorsett ($5,600) and Rex Burkhead ($3,400,) the Pats would likely be just fine without any of those guys. Regardless, the Pats’ defense, which is now nicknamed the ‘Boogeymen’, is in good shape. If all they have to worry about is Daniel Jones throwing to Golden Tate ($7,000) and handing off to Jon Hilliman ($5,800) and FB Eli Penny ($3,200,) this game will be a breeze for the home team.

There’s no doubt in my mind that the Patriots will cover, but the injury report will determine my decision for the over/under (as well as player props.) In any case, the Giants will need to score more than a touchdown to push this over 41 points, and that will certainly be a challenge. Sony Michel ($7,600) is in a great spot to have a season-high performance, finally breaking 100 rushing yards after coming up nine yards shy last week.
