The Pittsburgh Steelers return to practice on Wednesday to get ready for Week 5 vs. the Baltimore Ravens, and running back James Conner is likely to be limited in practice. Head coach Mike Tomlin told the media on Tuesday morning that Conner injured his ankle in the team’s 27-3 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. Tomlin said, “[t]hey’ll be limited some this week” and their practice work will dictate game availability, according to Steelers beat writer Brooke Pryor.
Conner rushed ten times for 42 yards and also had eight receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown in his strongest performance of the 2019 season. Jaylen Samuels got a sizable work load alongside Conner, also rushing ten times (for 26 yards and a touchdown), and also grabbing eight receptions (for 57 yards).
Fantasy impact: Samuels got a bump in workload, which very well might have been due to Conner’s dealing with a bum ankle. It’s tough to say what this means for Week 5 until we see the first practice participation report of the week. The Steelers could very well hold a light practice on Wednesday given the MNF short week, but that will be something to track through the week. Samuels is a solid speculative add in fantasy football, but if Conners is active, Samuels is unlikely to consistently get this much work.
