The quarterback position saw another casualty in Week 4, with Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky suffering a left shoulder injury that is expected to sideline him this week. Cam Newton (foot) is not expected to play again this week for the Carolina Panthers, opening up another start at QB for Kyle Allen. New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) is getting closer to a return, as he returned to practice in a non-contact role on Monday, but his status is uncertain for Week 5 as he has yet to be cleared for contact.

Here are some QBs with under 50 percent ownership on mainstream traditional leagues that fantasy owners can consider picking up if they are in need of a QB:

Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (44 percent)

Winston is playing his fifth game under new head coach Bruce Arians, who has a good reputation as an offensive coach. While Winston struggled early in the season in the new offense, he was dominant on the road in Week 4 against a tough Rams defense, throwing for 385 yards with four TDs, his second consecutive strong fantasy performance. Winston has an appealing Week 5 matchup indoors at New Orleans, who rank in the bottom third in QB rating allowed and passing yards allowed and have allowed elevated fantasy points to opposing QBs. The passing environment in the Superdome is among the best in the NFL.

Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts (32 percent)

Despite missing stud WR T.Y. Hilton (quad), Brissett had his best fantasy performance of the season last week against the Raiders, passing for 265 yards and three TDs. Brissett draws an appealing matchup in Week 5 against the Chiefs, who have an explosive offense, which can force opponents into pass mode in an effort to keep pace. The Chiefs have allowed more passing yards per game than average and have allowed elevated fantasy points to opposing QBs. Hilton is also a candidate to return at WR after missing last week.

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings (29 percent)

Cousins has not been a productive fantasy QB early in the season but draws a good matchup in Week 5 against the Giants. While the Giants played much better defense against a poor Washington offense in Week 4, they were shredded in the first three weeks of the season by the Cowboys, Bills and Buccaneers and rank in the bottom third in passing yards allowed and fantasy points allowed to QBs.

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals (16 percent)

Dalton has showcased boosted passing volume under the new Bengals coaching staff, and he draws an appealing Week 5 matchup against an Arizona Cardinals team that plays fast and allows a ton of yardage. The Cardinals have allowed the second best QB rating to opposing QBs and rank in the bottom third in passing yards allowed per game. The Cardinals have also allowed the third most fantasy points per game. Cardinals Pro Bowl CB Patrick Peterson remains out due to a suspension.

Chase Daniel, Chicago Bears (0 percent)

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that an initial MRI revealed that Bears’ starting QB Mitchell Trubisky has a dislocated left shoulder with a slight labrum tear, but does not need surgery and should be back sooner than later. Schefter adds that Trubisky will travel to London with the Bears for their matchup against the Raiders, but is unlikely to play, which means that Daniel will get the start at QB. Daniel managed the game well in relief of Trubisky in a Week 4 win over the Vikings, completing 22-of-30 passes for 195 yards and one TD with no turnovers. In two starts in place of Trubisky last season, Daniel passed for 258 yards per game with three total TDs and two total INTs. He draws a solid matchup against a Raiders team that has allowed more yards and more points than average and is a deep league option given he is barely owned.
